Jesolo
Jesolo is a city in the province of Venice, in Italy, between Eraclea and Cavallino-Treporti. Jesolo gives its name to a lagoon (22 kmē) on the Adriatic Sea.The city's economy is mostly based on tourism, because of its 15 km-long beach (Lido di Jesolo).
In Roman times the lagoon extended over the area now occupied by the town. There were several islands in the lagoon, the biggest of which was known as Equilium, the place of horses.
It is thought that Jesolo represents a corruption of this name.
Bassano del grappa
Bassano del Grappa is a city in the province of Vicenza, region Veneto, in Northern Italy. The original name of the town was Bassano Veneto. After the terrible battles on Mount Grappa in WWI , where thousands of soldiers lost their lives, a decision was made to change the name of the town.
In 1928, the name was changed into Bassano del Grappa, meaning Bassano of Mount Grappa, as a memorial to the soldiers killed.
The symbol of the town is the covered wooden pontoon bridge , which was designed by the architect Andrea Palladio in 1569.
